Working at Height Awareness Week

Site Safety Plus

Many people in a variety of industry sectors work at height every day. Some industries are more obvious than others, such as roofing, construction, engineering and facilities management. There are also many others who work at height daily in factories, shops, offices and hospitals, without realising it. Everyone needs to be aware of the dangers of working at height. Whether you are working on a ladder, have a possibility of falling onto a weak surface, working on a flat roof or could potentially fall into an open floor or a hole in the ground, you should always be aware of your surroundings to ensure that you, other employees and citizens are as safe as possible.

The HSE statistics for 2018/19 show that 40 people have died from a fall at height, which is an increase from 35 people in 2017/18. Falls from height also accounted for an estimated 43,000 non-fatal injuries each year, which is an average of 118 injuries per day. It is extremely important to us to ensure that we can do everything possible to increase the awareness of working at height and how to prevent accidents.

To increase the awareness of working at height, Safety Training Solutions are running a Working at Height Awareness Week which involves PASMA Working at Height and Harness courses which will run throughout the week of 16 – 20 September 2019.

Don’t Risk it

These courses will provide people with more of an insight into the dangers of working at height, their responsibilities, how to be safe and prevent accidents from working at height. On completion of the course, delegates will receive a PASMA certified certificate and card which is valid for 5 years. They will also receive a certificate for the Harness Inspection and Use certificate which is valid for 3 years.

We want to increase the safety of everyone who works at height and believe that everyone should receive sufficient training in order to keep themselves and everyone around them safe.
